MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY
Make a Difference Day-October 22, 2016 For the 4th year in a row, Thrivent BUILDS Repairs and Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County are holding an extraordinary community service event as part of the national Make A Difference Day. On Saturday, October 22, 2016, hundreds of volunteers will work side-by side with homeowners in the City of Poughkeepsie and the Village of Wappingers Falls to complete much-needed repairs and improvement projects.

NOTICE TO VILLAGE OF WAPPINGERS FALLS WATER USERS
The Village of Wappingers Falls Water Department will be flusing fire hydrants throughout the Village for two weeks starting Tuesday, October 11, 2016, and ending Friday, October 21, 2016. Residents are advised to check the water prior to doing laundry, and to allow water to run until it clears if any discoloration occurs.

Halloween Curfew
The Village of Wappingers Falls curfew begins the evening of October 30th through November 1st between the hours of 9pm and 5am, it will be unlawful for minors to congregate, loiter, wander, remain or play in or upon any public place, public park, public area, street, road or highway in the Village. The terms "remain" and "loiter" mean: 1) linger or stay, or 2) fail to leave premises when requested to do so by a Police Officer, Owner, Operator or other person in control of the premises. "Minor" means anyone under the age of 18 years old.
Veterans at Castle Point Clothing Collection
The Village of Wappingers Falls Recreation Department and the Village of Wappingers Falls Police Department will be collecting new clothing for the Veterans at Castle Point this holiday season. The following are acceptable dontations: New-underwear (briefs and boxers) sizes m-xxl, socks, t-shirts, sweatpants and sweatshirts. Drop boxes will be located in the Village Hall, 2582 South Avenue, Wappingers Falls and the Village Police Department lobby at 2628 South Avenue. Snow Ordinance
This is a reminder to the Residents of the Village of Wappingers Falls that the Snow Ordinance is in effect from December 1st, 2016 to April 1, 2017. During this period, no person shall park a vehicle on any public street within the Village between the hours of 12 Midnight and 7:00 o'clock the next morning. It shall be the duty of the owner of every parcel of real estate adjoining a public sidewalk, weather the parcel of real estate is occupied by a structure or not, to keep such sidewalks adjoining such property free from snow and ice for the full paved width of such sidewalk. Snow and ice shall be removed within 24 hours after the end of a snowfall. In addition, sidewalks in front of commercial establishments and commercial parking lots shall be kept free of snow and ice at times between the hours of 9am and 5pm. No person, firm or corporation shall deposit, throw, place or strew, nor shall any person, firm or corporation cause to be deposited, thrown, place or strewn, any snow or ice upon any street, avenue or roadway within the Village. Any person in violation of this law shall be subject a fine. Also please remember that it is each property owner's responsibility by law to keep each fire hydrant that might be in your curb strip shoveled out for snow events. Remember as well that homeowners are also responsible for preventing meter and pipe 'freeze-ups". So make sure that these connections are properly insulated and protected.
